One Trip, Two Guiding Options
From February to April, Trevarefabrikken transforms into Henningsvær Ski Lodge - a winter base camp for world-class backcountry skiing in Lofoten.
Everyone joins the same ski touring adventure for the same price. Guiding is arranged based on how many are in your group:
1–2 people: You’ll join a small open group (4-6 guests per guide)
3–6 people: You’ll have your own private guide included in the price
If you are 1 or 2 people and prefer a private guide, this can be arranged for an additional cost. Private trips outside the listed dates are also available on request.

Local instructors
Vegard With Stennes is a local mountain guide who lives in Henningsvær with his family and runs I Fri Natur guiding company. He is a certified IFMGA mountain guide and has extensive experience from around the world – from Svalbard to the USA and back home to Lofoten.
Their team at I Fri Natur consists of experienced guides that live here year-round, and they are passionate about providing safe and high-quality nature experiences that showcase the world-class skiing and climbing that these islands have to offer.
Accommodation
You will stay in one of the unique and playful hotel rooms of Trevarefabrikken. Every room has been built to maintain the original details of the factory. Reused bricks, old elevator shafts, concrete details, ash flooring, and large industrial windows letting natural light fill the space. The rooms are located on the third floor of Trevarefabrikken, overlooking the small arctic fishing village of Henningsvær.
Skiers paradise
In Lofoten you’ll find terrain both for the first timers and the more experienced, right by the waterfront. Sea-to-summit skiing does not get any closer than in the Lofoten Archipelago. This duality makes the region one of the world’s most exciting places for backcountry skiing.
One guide takes a maximum of 6 people with them per trip to ensure both safety aspects, learning and flow. In open groups, each tour is planned based on the group’s overall skill and experience level. Our guides do their best to adapt the pace and terrain to suit everyone. If you’re 1–2 people and want a more personalized experience with greater flexibility in route choices, pace, and daily planning, we recommend booking a private guide.
Day by day
Arrival day (Wednesday)
When arriving in Henningsvær. you’ll be able to check in to Trevarefabrikken / Henningsvær Ski Lodge from 3PM. We will eat dinner together at around 19:30, followed by an introduction of the guides and short description of the following days to come.
Skiing days (Thu, Fri, Sat)
We eat breakfast together while enjoying the views of the Vestfjord right outside the factory. You’ll pack your own lunch from the buffet while getting the last weather forecast, risk analysis and updates regarding today’s trip from the guides. We plan on using as much time as possible outside.
Upon returning, you can have a sauna before dinner, which is served at 19:30. After dinners you can mingle freely before enjoying a good night’s sleep.
On Saturday evenings (after dinner) we invite you to take part in the factory’s culture program, which can vary between quiz nights, karaoke, DJ sets and live concerts. Since Trevarefabrikken is an old concrete building, the sound from the dance floor on Saturday nights travels easier and you should expect to hear some bass if you go to bed before 01.30.
Departure day (Sunday)
The last day starts with a final breakfast at Henningsvær Ski Lodge, before checking out of the rooms and leaving for your travels home. For those with an evening flight, a late check out is possible. You are also welcome to participate in our Sunday yoga class for a discounted price. Please note that the spot for the yoga class should be booked in advance, so please let us know if this interests you.
Factory program
Trevarefabrikken / Henningsvær Ski Lodge has a vast and varied culture program throughout the year with talks, quizzes, movie screenings, djs and concerts. Attendance for the culture program is included in your stay with us to ensure you get the full factory experience while staying with us.
